MASSAGE - INDIAN HEAD (£35 per hour)
This massage is grounded in the Ayurvedic system of healing, which has been practised for over a thousand years. This is a seated treatment, delivered over clothing, in which the scalp, neck, shoulders, arms and back are massaged with various kneading and compression strokes, and pressure is applied to various points on the face.
The therapeutic benefits of Indian head massage include stress relief, relaxation, release of muscular tension, promotion of sleep, increased mobility in the neck and shoulders, improved circulation, detoxification through increased lymphatic flow, and prevention of headaches, migraine and sinusitis. Clients report a feeling of deep relaxation follow treatment, followed by increased energy and heightened mental clarity.
MASSAGE - DEEP TISSUE / SPORTS & REMEDIAL (£40 per hour)
Deep tissue massage uses deep, slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles). It's used for chronic aches and pain and contracted areas such as a stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.
While some of the strokes may feel the same as those used in Swedish massage therapy, deep tissue massage isn't the same as a regular massage with deep pressure. It's used to break up scar tissue and physically break down muscle "knots" or adhesions that can disrupt circulation and cause pain, limited range of motion, and inflammation. At the beginning of the massage, lighter pressure is generally applied to warm up and prep the muscles. Specific techniques are then applied to the problem areas, which can help with the following conditions:
Low back pain | Limited mobility | Recovery from injuries |Repetitive strain injury | Postural problems |
Muscle tension in the hamstrings, glutes, IT band, legs, quadriceps, rhomboids, upper back |
Osteoarthritis pain | Sciatica | Sports concerns (runners, athletes) | Piriformis syndrome |
Tennis elbow | Fibromyalgia | Upper back or neck pain
MASSAGE - SWEDISH (£35 per hour)
Swedish massage is a great introductory massage for many reasons, number one being that it involves firm, yet gentle strokes. Swedish massage is designed specifically to enhance circulation and blood flow to the large muscle groups.
Swedish massage's main benefit is the overall relaxation that it provides. A standard Swedish session addresses most major muscle groups of the body. The strokes of the massage relax individual muscles, while the overall experience eliminates mental stress, but they also replicate the movements of the circulatory system. By performing the strokes toward the heart, Swedish massage drains metabolic waste from the limbs of the body. Some of the strokes used in Swedish therapy increase blood flow, which further quickens the removal of bodily waste.
Swedish massage has many overall health benefits for issues other than just stiffness or muscle aches and pains. Benefits include, reduction in knee arthritis, easing the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome, lowering blood pressure, boosting immune system function, reducing headaches and helping to mitigate the symptoms of fibromyalgia. By performing the strokes toward the heart, Swedish massage drains metabolic waste from the limbs of the body.

MASSAGE - CUPPING / CUPPING (£35 per hour)
Cupping is an ancient form of Chinese Medicine, and is believed to promote the flow of Qi through the body. The plastic cups are placed on the skin at specific points. The same points are used in Acupuncture. Then, the vacuum is created inside the cup which sucks in the specific area of the skin. If required, a cup with a magnetic insertion stud can be used which provides additional acupressure on the skin as the vacuum is created.
In cupping massage, suction cups are placed on the skin and then moved around on the lubricated skin across a body area. Cupping massage has a much stronger effect on blood circulation than regular massage.
The results are fast and impressive. Both techniques are particularly beneficial for muscular tension and pain reduction (e.g. plantar fasciitis). They both promote relaxation and, by improving circulation, they boost skin health and speed up recovery after respiratory and cold issues.
